Module 1: Introduction to Groom School

Becoming a groom means dedicating yourself to the care and well-being of horses. It’s a rewarding role that combines hands-on skills, practical knowledge, and a genuine love for these incredible animals.

A horse groom is someone who takes care of horses daily. Their job includes feeding, cleaning, brushing (grooming), and making sure the horse is healthy. They also clean the stables, check for injuries, and sometimes help prepare horses for riding or competitions. A groom ensures the horse is well cared for and comfortable.

In this chapter, we’ll introduce you to what it means to be a groom and the essential skills you’ll develop throughout the course. You’ll learn about daily care routines, understand horse behaviour, and discover how to build a strong bond with the horses you look after. This journey is about improving your skills and creating a meaningful connection with the animals in your care.

Enjoy the ride!
